Day One

The first day of our 9 days of adventure.
The team made their way to Kapunda, while travelling they saw lush green areas, sparing a thought for those who this time last year just had paddocks of brown, or a crop that was struggling to grow.
As they neared Kapunda, they passed the iconic statue Map the Miner. This was erected as a monument to the Cornish miners who mined here from 1844 to 1878. The original statue was funded by a local Rotary Club, but was destroyed by fire in 2006. This replacement was erected in 2007, by the original artist.
the first brief stop was in Eudunda, where the team stretched their legs at a morning tea spot at Farrell Flat and appreciated the artistic abilities of the 2 artists whose work is displayed on the silos near by.
Lunch was provided for us by the Rotary Club of Peterborough. A small Club, but the team heard about their projects during a lunch time presentation.
After lunch the group were transported back in time to the early 1900’s at the Steamtown Heritage Railway.
